Emergency Management

Snow Removal

A snow emergency is declared for the City of Galesburg if there is two inches of snowfall or significant blowing winds and drifting.  All cars must be moved off the roadway to make it easier for plows to clear the whole street of snow.

Emergency Sirens

Thirteen emergency sirens are located throughout Galesburg.  Testing is conducted on the first Tuesday of every month at 10:00AM.  Sirens are not sounded for severe lightning or flash floods, but are used in tornado warnings or for thunderstorms with severe winds or hail.  They may be also used for non-weather emergencies such as hazardous materials releases, terrorism, and nuclear emergencies.
